After a brutal game that took its toll last week against Collies the Butchers this week travel down to Parrish Park to take on Wests who are coming off a bye in round 2 and a convincing win over Corrimal in round 3
The tough game last week will indeed put the butchers in good stead to face rivals Wests who love playing at home, but no other team in this comp enjoys going to Figtree and taking the 2 points away from there, than Thirroul.
Coach Jarrod Costello was forced to do some last-minute changes before kick off last week with Josh Starling ruled out resulting in young gun Kaleb Hocking being promoted into the starting side, then minutes into the game Ryan Fletcher coped a head knock resulting in him getting dragged from the field
With Fletcher coping the HIA and being ruled out this week Hayden Crossland (Thirroul’s Mr Fix It -who can play any position asked), will again play 6 and Partner Whitford in the halves. Starling is back and his injection into this side will pay divided against the devil’s pack. With Crosso moving into 6 it opens up a chance for another one of the butcher’s young guns Jye Patterson to start at Fullback after being moved from wing into Fullback last week with the shuffle of players.
The Fresh halves paring of Crossland and Whitford will need to be at there very best this week to ensure this Butchers team gets directed around the paddock and put on the right blade of grass to ensure multiple points are put on Wests.
In what’s going to be a physical encounter again this week I’m really looking forward to watching Big Frank in full flight, it was epic to see the man mountain hit full stride last week and I’m sure the boys will rev him up about what it means to beat Wests at Parrish Park.
A Massive Congratulations to Thirroul Junior Ryan Couchman who last week made his Debut for the Butchers, Huge Achievement Ryan not only to Play first grade but to go from u6s all the way to 1st grade is outstanding.
Also, the Illawarra rep sides where announced this week for the clash against Newcastle in a few weeks. The Butchers are well represented in both sides:
Open Age – Hayden Crossland, Scott Galeano, Tarje Whitford, Ryan Fletcher
Colts – Kaleb Hocking, Jye Patterson, Nelson Sharp, Josh Martin, Ammon Cairney
Petty’s Predictions:
1st Try Scorer – Scott Galeano
Man Of The Match – Toby Boothroyd
Best on Ground – Damien Sironen ( Odds on to flog a Wests player in defence)
Score – Butchers by 10
