Thirroul butchers will travel to Ziems Park on Saturday to take on the undefeated Corrimal Cougars
The cougars who the past few years have been the cellar dwellers of the Illawarra league are 2 from 2 to start the season with wins over Berkeley in round 1 and Dapto in round 2.
Butchers are coming off a hard fought victory in round 1 against competition heavy weights Collegians courtesy of a nice placed kick from Halfback Jake Walsh and pounced on from centre Callum Tatuha.
Having the bye in round 2 the butchers will be looking to continue their winning form and post another win to cement 1stplace on the completion ladder.
Butchers will have to be at the best this Saturday as these two sides tend to have a great rivalry that no matter where they both sit on the competition ladder it’s always an arm wrestle for the full 80 minutes
The Butchers will be led from the front by their Skipper Joel Johnson, the reigning Paul McGregor medallist will be looking to continue his form from last season into 2019, Joel is the best no9 in this competition and the cougars are going to have to be at their best to stop the destructive running game the skipper possesses.
This game will be won in the forwards, with Thirroul’s big mobile pack considered the best pack in the competition led up front by the evergreen Joel Ruskin and the tireless backrow of Jay Gallager, Luke Gallagher and Mick Morris.
With this class forward pack it will allow so much time for the halves pairing of Walsh and Fletcher to do what they do best and lay on points for their outside backs.
Get down to Ziems Park on Saturday 3PM to cheers on the butchers.
