Johnny “The voice of the North” Pett comes aboard with a weekly column

Welcome Johnny Pett, to our social media team.

Johnny aka “The voice of the North” will be writing a weekly column for our website giving his views on the up coming Butchers games, players to watch, a run down on the opposition and anything else game related.

For those that don’t know Johnny Pett, he is a local lad who played his junior footy with the Butchers before moving on to play grade football with our neighbours the Northern Suburbs Bulldogs. After retiring he turned his hand to commentary with the BarTV crew which covers our local league. 99% of the time if you are watching a Butchers game on the BarTV, it will be Johnny’s voice you hear. Dubbed “The voice of the North” by Illawarra Mercury sports scribe Mitch Jennings. Pett’s commentary doesn’t just stop with our local comp, you can also hear him on SWR 99.9FM calling the Canterbury Cup (NRL reserve grade), a weekly podcast called the “Taste of Steel” with the Mercury’s Jennings talking all things Illawarra Rugby League and he has kindly given up what ever time he has left to help us out with our video podcast “The Send Off”.

Pett has an extremely good knowledge of the local league, players, teams and good a footy brain. He will give us his expert opinion each week in his new column Pett’s Preview which will be up for the first time tomorrow.
